Starting in July, Vietnamese Airlines Must Refund Passengers for Flights Delayed Over 4 Hours

Travelers on domestic or international flights from Vietnam will soon receive better protection when their flights encounter issues. Under new government regulations effective July 1, Vietnamese airlines are required to refund the full ticket price to passengers if a flight is delayed by 4 hours or more and the cause is the airline's fault.

This regulation aims to enhance airlines' responsibility toward passengers and create transparency in compensation for delays and cancellations. Previously, many passengers experienced waiting for hours without adequate support. With the new policy, if your flight is delayed for over 4 hours due to technical, personnel, or operational issues attributable to the airline, you are fully entitled to request a 100% refund of the ticket price.

For travelers to Da Nang, Hoi An, or other Central Vietnam destinations, this is welcome news. Peak summer flights are often affected by weather, but if the delay is not due to weather but the airline's fault, your rights are protected. Remember to keep your ticket, invoice, and related evidence to facilitate any claims if necessary. Airlines will also need to clearly publish the refund process on their websites and at counters.

The new regulation promises to improve the quality of aviation services, giving passengers greater peace of mind when choosing to fly to tourist cities like Da Nang in the future.
