Nice coffee and attentive staff
I very rarely leave reviews, but this time I can't stay silent. First, the good part. The people here genuinely love coffee and are happy to talk about it. About a month ago I got into coffee and came in to try theirs. Talking to the barista was a real pleasure — it was clear she truly loves what she does, and that kind of enthusiasm is contagious. She gave me several great tips on brewing coffee like that at home, and it left a very good impression on me. I'd been to this place 5–7 times before, always a good experience, and I recommended it to friends as the best specialty coffee shop around. That was until today. Now the other side. Inspired by that conversation, I decided to buy coffee from them. I found their subscription: 1.5M for two bags delivered by the 5th of each month (which coffees you get is a surprise). On 5 August I came to the store to sign up and was told it wasn't possible that month — I'd need to place my order before the 5th of the next month. So I waited a full month and ordered on 1 September at 11am. I got the confirmation email and was looking forward to the 5th. On 3 September they wrote to me saying I could only subscribe starting in October, since it was already the 3rd. I sent a screenshot of my 1 September order and explained what the staff had told me in August. Worth noting: nowhere on their site does it say the order has to be placed in the previous month. The manager then confirmed my subscription and that I'd receive the coffee on 5 September. Under the subscription terms, payment is made to the courier on delivery; I offered to pay by local bank transfer and collect the order myself so the shop wouldn't spend money on delivery. He then asked whether I also wanted the October box — I said yes — and told me I'd have to pay 3M upfront for both months. There is no prepayment condition anywhere in their terms, so it looked like new rules were being invented on the spot. I asked to keep the standard pay-on-delivery arrangement, and he confirmed that was fine. We spent a lot of time on this correspondence, but it finally seemed resolved. Then today, 4 September — one day later — the manager came back and told me I won't receive the coffee on the 5th, because the subscription team didn't approve it. The subscription contains the same coffee anyone can walk in and buy at any 43 store. I don't understand why it takes this much effort to buy coffee here. This has been a very disappointing experience, especially considering that they sell coffee in the premium price segment. At these prices I'd expect the service and communication to match the product — and so far that hasn't been the case at all. P.S. Attaching a screenshot showing that my delivery was confirmed and then cancelled the next day. Update from 06.09: Below, the restaurant replied that I violated etiquette rules by attaching a screenshot containing an employee’s personal information. I honestly find this completely unclear, as this was communication initiated by the company. If you do not want employees’ personal information to be visible, then communication with customers should be conducted through official company accounts rather than personal ones. What is especially strange is that on September 3, I was initially contacted through the coffee shop’s official account (screenshot attached), but later the same employee contacted me from his personal account. This once again highlights the communication problem on the coffee shop’s side, where instead of addressing their own communication issues, they choose to blame their customers. I have no problem redacting his personal information, and I will do so, because I am capable of taking responsibility and correcting my mistakes. However, what I find really disappointing is that after receiving my feedback, the restaurant did nothing to address the actual issue. I genuinely hoped this was simply a mistake rather than a systematic approach, but unfortunately, it seems that the establishment is not prepared to take responsibility for its obligations to customers.
The guy working here with a Carhartt Cap is nice .
Really enjoyed the espresso here! ☕️ I tried the Finca Rosenheim Typica & Caturra and it was excellent, light, bright and pleasantly acidic, with a really clean taste. Definitely a great spot for specialty coffee!
Great place with knowledgeable people and great coffee! The focus on light roasted beans.
Disclaimer: as specialty coffee drinkers who regularly try light-roast beans from different origins, this wasn’t our first specialty coffee experience. And it wasn’t our first speciality coffee experience in Vietnam. The barista knew that we were first timers in THEIR place, then immediately recommended us to try their most expensive option on the menu which is 500k VND and spent a while explaining how much they value precision: correct dosing, process, technique. Right after that, she accidentally dropped the cup with ground coffee on the table top while preparing our pour-over. Instead of re-grinding a proper dose, she just brushed the spilled grounds aside and brewed the pour-over with whatever was left in the cup…despite everything we’ve just been told us about how much dosing accuracy matters to them. Their signature extremely light roast was basically watery tea. It was slightly sour though. Milkbased option was not any different- just watery tea mixed with milk. Their Shot technique was slightly better than previous two, but still not good for the money they ask. The barista also spent time laughing and telling us a story about other customers who had complained the coffee didn’t taste good, mocking them for “not getting it”, an odd thing to bring up unprompted, and not a great look for a shop already charging premium prices. We didn’t feel like guests, we felt like an audience for the barista’s own performance. Won’t be back. On the positive side: the place is well designed and very much suitable for IG content and probably digital nomads.
